Yesterday support member Ryan Ashbrook left the MyBB team. An official announcement is yet to be made on the community forums. I will however note that in a conversation I had with him on MSN this morning he said he is still going to participate in MyBB and MyBB Fans, and that he has no intention of leaving his friends at MyBB. He also said he will continue to support the various plugins he has released for MyBB in the foreseeable future.
Well thanks Ryan, you have been a fantastic support member. I wish you luck with your future endeavours .

Published by October 8th, 2007 in MyBB 1.2.x, MyBB 1.4.x and MyBB Community. 1 CommentSome of you may be interested what may be going on in the life of the MyBB Fans Staff (excluding me, I’m just the news guy) considering not much has happened with this website, nor the theme contest which is well overdue for a winner. I’ll also update you with information on MyBB.
Some of the available staff positions have been filled by community members destroyer, DrPoodle, MrDoom and last but not least rh1n0.
Just because some new staff members have been added to the team now doesn’t mean your chance of being a staff member have gone. Remember Dev positions are available too and the above four members are support members, so anyone who applied for a Dev position is in with a good chance. Also Chris has said that positions are still available in his announcement and in the IRC channel.
As to who has already been picked for a position on the dev team, we can only speculate.
Chris on the IRC channel yesterday confirmed to us that no more submissions for staff positions. It’s finally time for the staff members to look over the submissions with a fine tooth comb and come to a decision on their new team mates. There are a great number of fine submissions to wade through and coming to a final decision will be hard. If you are have submitted a statement to the MyBB team regarding this matter then you have a lot of competition to overcome. Although the review was postponed due to a recently discovered exploit, the results will be available soon.

Congratulations to tmhai who won the Last One to Post Wins contest thread on the MyBB Community Forums. The winning message was posted on June 23 2:56AM PDT and the next message was posted on June 24 2:40AM PDT.
On the MyBB Games website, there’s an interview they conducted with one of the development team members of the MyBB project, Tikitiki (Ryan Gordon).
Developing one of the best Bulletin Board systems would be a daunting task for any 15 year old, but Tikitiki has leapt to the challenge and his hard work is reflected in every MyBB forum on the internet. Recently MyBB Games were lucky enough to have an exclusive interview with the self proclaimed “sexiest developer”.
Questions range from info about Ryan, why he develops for the MyBB project, which plugins he’s developed and is most proud of, and what he sees coming in the future for himself and the project.

MyBB Games has their own “Guess When MyBB 1.4 Will Be Released” contest called The MyBB 1.4 Guessing Game. Who wouldn’t want more chances to win free money? But don’t forget we also have our own contest. The prizes here are less than what MyBB Games is offering (mainly because we’re all broke here), but hey, who’s complaining about free money?
We Want Your Themes!

Unfortunately there has always been a lack of themes for MyBB, and this is disappointing to say the least. Without a theme, your forum wouldn’t have the individuality that it should have. Instead, it would be one of many forums I have seen that still use the MyBB Default Theme.
Not that there is anything wrong with the default of course, and indeed it is perfect to start your fledgling forum off with. Soon however, your members will increase in number and your forum will start to take a unique shape…and you will need a unique theme to match it.
The lack of themes for MyBB makes this very hard to do, and we at MyBB Fans have decided that enough is enough. More themes MUST be made, and you guys are going to do it for us (because we’re lazy like that). Of course such a monumental task can’t just be thrust on you all like this, it just wouldn’t be fair, and so we have constructed a CONTEST to get you all in a competitive mood!
MyBB 1.2 Theming Contest
You mission (which you have no choice but to accept) is to create a theme for MyBB 1.2 that will be judged by a team of highly trained and intelligent people. The judges will mark your theme according to various criteria, and the community will also get a chance to judge the themes as well.
The top 5 themes will be awarded prizes, which range from $10USD to a whopping $100USD!!! Each winner will also receive a 1 year premium membership at MyBB Fans, and a lifetime @mybbfans.com email address which you can use to send commiserations / taunts / insults to the people who did not win.
If you are new to theming you can still enter (in fact this is encouraged) and you will received bonus points if this is your very first theme.
