Some of you may be interested what may be going on in the life of the MyBB Fans Staff (excluding me, I’m just the news guy) considering not much has happened with this website, nor the theme contest which is well overdue for a winner. I’ll also update you with information on MyBB.

Is Dennis Alive?
Considering we haven’t lately been informed that Dennis is alive via his usual medium of bloggery, I immediately jumped to the conclusion that he had been abducted by aliens and locked in a room where he was tortured for the passwords to MyBB’s Area51. To my dismay I was recently informed that, while Dennis is active at the official MyBB Community Forums providing support (no less an alien imposter!), he is indeed extremely busy with University, work, and life and to top it all off, a voluntary development position in a powerful, efficient, and free forum package group known as MyBB. Sorry guys, you’re just going to have to wait till he’s free for the judging of the themeing contest to proceed, and nagging at these forums isn’t going to help (I would know, I tried).

Tikitiki, one of MyBB’s development team members and interviewees of the MyBB Games wasn’t quite right with the approximate release date of MyBB 1.4 – we don’t blame him though, he tried his best in protecting Dennis from the alien abduction which obviously gave the team post-traumatic stress hence delaying the release of 1.4…

The estimated release date range that Tikitiki provided has passed, but due to the quietness of the whole matter (i.e. no new announcements – not that there’s anything to announce) one would imagine that the MyBB Group is working their voluntary arses off to provide the community a well-worth-the-wait forum package (and to recap), featuring a heap of new features, functionality and interfaces some of which have been fully reported by the MyBB Fans and MyBB Games websites.

When MyBB 1.4 is released into beta I will personally see to the full review of it, and provide the most comprehensive list of new features, not to mention, go ballistic with the “Print Screen” button on my keyboard just for you. I will be sitting my HSC Examinations soon – so a welcomed word of warning; if the MyBB Group releases MyBB 1.4 into beta before the 8th of November, 2007 I will personally invite the aliens to probe you all! Muahahah*cough*ahaha*cough*hah*cough*a… moving along.

Do not despair…
…good news has been salvaged! Due to the not-so-recent integration, redesign and functionality additions of the MyBB Mods website there has been a significant influx of completely new, innovative and useful plugins created by the community, an amazing 223 of them to date. Not to mention 15 solid pages of custom themes (…too bad only a small fraction of those themes are running for the themeing contest, it would make a lot of people very happy if they were automagically included in the competition for, say, a Christmas Judging *wink* *wink*…) which can all be viewed through the Theme Demonstration website.

In other news, there is no news on the status of any new MyBB positions being filled – mostly developer positions, considering the first round was directed at new support staff. So it looks like all hope is lost Chris… *sobs*. Just to be clear, you can still provide support and you can always develop plugins even if you aren’t on the staff list.

That brings you up to scratch with the world of MyBB. While you’re attentively waiting for the release of MyBB 1.4 you may be interested in some tutorials, resources, tips and tricks, promotional material or just some reading-up on what you’ve previously missed here and at the MyBB Games website.
